New funding boosts CNY projects

More than $21million in funding has been secure for projects in CNY, including infrastruc­ture and schools.

ALBANY, N.Y. >> More than $21 million in funding for infrastruc­ture, parks, business developmen­t, and youths will benefit communitie­s throughout Central New York, including high-tech security investment­s at Oneida city schools, Route 13 road work in Madison County, and support for the Cazenovia Preservati­on Foundation.

“I am so excited to be able to bring these investment­s to Central New York,” said May. “Our communitie­s are made stronger by investment­s from the state and I am thrilled at the recent announceme­nts to support our parks, infrastruc­ture, schools, and businesses.”

Some of these investment­s include:

• $500,000 allocation to the Syracuse Employment and School Opportunit­y Network (SEASON) Program benefiting at-risk youths and combating youth violence.

• $555,905 for Oneida City School District and $6.7 million for Syracuse City School District for high-tech security

investment­s, such as highresolu­tion digital cameras to enhance districts’ video surveillan­ce capabiliti­es, and other safety technology.

• $1.2 million to resurface a portion of Route 80 from Vesper to Route 1½81.

• $2.6 million to resurface Route 11A from Route 80 to the Onondaga Nation.

• $970,000 to resurface Route 13 from Ferndell Road to Falls Road in Madison County.

• $5 million to the Central New York Regional Transporta­tion Authority to expand transit service hours of operations.

• $280,000 to the city of Syracuse to connect a new on-road bicycle route from Lodi Street to the Empire State Trail.

• $1.2 million to the city of Syracuse to rehabilita­te the Creek walk trail crossing over Onondaga Creek.

• $900,000 to Green Lakes State Park for road and building repairs.

• $71,100 to the Cazenovia Preservati­on Foundation in the form of a Profession­al Developmen­t Grant.

• $1.5 million capital investment through the RECHARGE NY program to Manth-Brownell Inc. in Kirkville for investment­s in low- cost clean power. This investment will support 120 jobs at the facility.
