••• Kaycee Simpson of Blossvale, NY, was one of 24 students inducted into SUNY Oneonta’s Alpha-Kappa-Iota chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honor Society. Simpsonwas inducted during theHistory Department’s Awards and Phi Alpha Theta Induction Ceremony last week in Le Cafe atMorris Conference Center. The special guest was Elizabeth Mosher, Daughters of the American Revolution State Chairperson and SUNY Oneonta alumna.

Simpson is studying Adolescence Ed: Social Studies at SUNYOneonta.

••• More than 100 Rochester Institute ofTechnology students, including Brooke Busa of Chittenango (13037), were honored March 28 as Outstanding Undergraduate Scholars. The students were also able to invite the high school or community college teacher that made the most impact on their education.

The Outstanding Undergraduate Scholar Awards, held annually since 1976, honored students who have achievedat leasta3.85GPA. The scholars have maintained a high standard of academic excellencewhile also giving back to their community through civicorvolunteerwork, conductingresearch or being engaged in a co-op or work in their field of study.

“You should be so proud of yourselves,” Ellen Granberg, RIT provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs, told them at the ceremony. “The program lists many of your achievements, awards and research breakthroughs. However, what it doesn’tmention are the countless hours that you spent studying or working on a project, completing a piece of artwork or checking your research results. Your commitment to excellence shines through.”
