75-year-old man guilty of child sex crimes
SYRACUSE, N.Y. >> A Cazenovia man pleaded guilty on Thursday, June 13, to sexually exploiting a child from 2016 to 2018.
Naven Conley, 75, of Cazenovia, was charged with three counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
In entering his guilty plea in United States District Court, Conley admitted that on three separate occasions he engaged in sexually explicit conduct with a minor under seven years of age and produced cell phone recordings of that conduct over the course of three years.
In addition to that conduct, Conley also admitted that he possessed 21 images and 15 video files depicting child pornography that he received over the internet. Conley further admitted that he showed those images and videos to the child victim as part of his efforts to convince the child to engage in sex acts with him.
United States Chief District JudgeGlennT. Suddaby will sentence Conley on Oct. 23. He faces a mandatory minimum term of 15 years imprisonment on each count, with amaximumpenalty of 30 years imprisonment per count. He will be required to serve a term of supervised release of a minimum of 5 years, and up to life, following his termof imprisonment. Conleywill also be required to register as a sex offender.
Conley’s case was investigated by U.S. Homeland Security Investigations and the New York State Police, Troop D, Computer Crimes Unit. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Geoffrey J. L. Brown.
