The memorial golf tournament was hosted by the Community Memorial Foundation to support the purchase of exam room furnishings for the Hamilton Family Health Center.

HAMILTON, N.Y. >> On Monday, June 17, 124 golfers set foot on the landscaped golf course at Seven Oaks to celebrate and remember the life of dedicated community leader Mike Martin. In its fourth year, the memorial golf tournament was hosted by the Community Memorial Foundation to support the purchase of exam room furnishings for the Hamilton Family Health Center.

“We are grateful to the participants and sponsors whose support produced a very successful event and remembers a wonderful community friend, Mike Martin. This successful event was not solely owned, but a result of dedicated and talented volunteer committee, who helped raise the funds to keep quality healthcare in our own backyard,” said tournament co-chairs Patty and Joe Caprio.

The tournament kickedoff with a few words of encouragement, competition rules, and expressions of gratitude to the field of 31 teams provided by Joe Caprio, Sean Fadale and Dallas Pylinski. The sun was high in the sky for most of the event day and player enthusiasm remained high as the beverage carts made regular stops to cool off the players. Players completed the day with a reception and awards dinner at the Colgate Inn.

The tournament recognized four teams; first place, second place, third place and 13th place. First place was awarded to Team Sessler members including Eric Burrell, Pat Vogel, Robert Tenney and Jim Sessler who shot a 60. Second place was Team Hope members including JS Hope, Dan Partigianoni, John Collins and Matt Langel who shot a 61. Team Practice Resources made up of Michael Cominolli, David Barletta, TomHuson, and Robert Calnon took third place with a 62 and rounding out the field of recognition was Team Fust Charles Chambers made up of Rob Smith, Tom Knych, Chris Graham, and Jeff Montana who finished 13th overall.

New this year were a series of special contests. Winners included Jim Sessler for long drive men, Carley Britton, long drive women, Matt Langel, closest to the line men, Sophie LeClerc, closest to the line women, Ron Joyce closest to the pin men and Karen Taranto, closest to the pin women.

The event raised more than $70,000 to support the purchase of furnishings for 15 exam rooms in the newly expanded and renovated Hamilton Family Health Center.

The 2020 event is scheduled on Monday, June 22, at the Seven Oaks Golf Course. Registration begins in January 2020. Teams, individuals, or sponsors interested in participating are encouraged to register early as the event sells-out each year.
