Cerio to earn alumni award
CANASTOTA, N.Y. >> Marian J. Cerio has been chosen as the recipient of the 2019 Vincent V. Albanese Alumni Achievement Award for outstanding and valuable contributions to her profession and to the community.
Cerio, daughter of Donald (Biff) and Madlyn Cerio, is a 1972 graduate of Canastota Central Schools and graduated from SUNY Potsdam in 1976 with a BA in Political Science and History. She obtained a Juris Doctor degree from Syracuse University College of Law in 1979.
Cerio initially worked for Northwestern Legal Services for a period of one year. In 1982 she opened the Law Office of Marian J. Cerio, PC, where she continues to offer her professional services. In conjunction with her profession, she is a member of the Madison County, the Oneida County and the NYS Bar Associations. Cerio acts as an attorney for the Child Panel in Madison and Oneida Counties.
A lifetime resident of Canastota, Cerio has been active in her church, with the CCS District and in other areas of the community. She is a member of St. Agatha’s Parish Council, served as a lector for the past fourteen years and as church trustee since 2018. Amember of the Canastota Central School Board of Education for eight years, she held the office of President for 2014-2015. Marion also serves on the Canastota Alumni Association’s Board of Directors and has recently joined the Italian American Heritage Committee.
The award will be presented at the 138th Canastota Alumni Banquet to be held at Theodore’s Restaurant (formerly The Rusty Rail) in Canastota on June 29.
