Morrisville State top NEAC school in Learfield Cup standings
MORRISVILLE, N.Y. >> The final standings for the Learfield College Directors’ Cup, presented by IMG, recently released the Division III institutional rankings, with Morrisville State making their eighth straight appearance.
Morrisville State earned 100 points to rank 184th among 338 institutions in the final standings, receiving points frommaking appearances in the NCAA championship tournament. Over the course of 2018-19, the Mustangs had four teams qualify for the NCAA tournament, withmen’s lacrosse earning a bid for the fourth straight year, and women’s lacrosse a third consecutive appearance.
“I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised to see Morrisville State was once again the top North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) school in the Learfield Cup standings for the past year,” said Morrisville State Athletics Director Greg Carroll.
“We have enjoyed consistent success at the post-season level in both men’s and women’s lacrosse as well as men’s basketball and men’s soccer. With the success of women’s volleyball the past two years I’m hoping that program is the next one to really establish itself a perennial powerhouse.”
“I’d love to see us get to the point where all conference championships go through Morrisville State. If we continue to work hard and dedicate ourselves to that goal, I think it can be a reality.”
In the fall, women’s volleyball claimed the NEAC title for a second consecutive year, followed by men’s basketball with a program fifth overall.
