Oneida, NY 1935-2019 Edward Dale Ano, age 83, of Oneida, passed away unexpected­ly on Thursday, August 01, 2019 at his home. He was born on November 29, 1935 in Oneida, NY, the son of the late Edward A. and Jane “Jennie” ( Durfee) Ano. Ed was raised in Stockbridg­e, NY where he graduated from Stockbridg­e Valley Central School. Mr. Ano was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. On October 22, 1957 he was united in marriage to the former Judith Ann Cole the couple shared in a union blessed with over 61 years. Mr. Ano held a Position with New York Telephone later becoming NYNEX Telephone Corporatio­n for over thirty-seven years prior to his retirement. He was a member of AMHA American Miniature Horse Associatio­n, a life member of the Durhamvill­e Veterans Club, the Munnsville American Legion, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Associatio­n, and he was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Dale was a devoted family man who cherished the time he spent with his family. He was happiest when they all gathered together. He was an avid outdoorsma­n; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. Ed was a private airplane pilot with an IFR rating. He bred, raised, and showed state champion miniature horses. He is survived by his wife, Judith Ann; seven children and their spouses, Jim and Shirl Ano of Durhamvill­e, Jane and Craig Garlock of Oneida, William Cory Ano of Oneida, Robert Kyle and Martha Ano, Rik and Charlene Ano all of Oneida, Mark and Kerry Ano of TX, and Nancy and Mike Boris of Durhamvill­e; 17 grandchild­ren; 32 great-grandchild­ren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Kay and John Falcone of Sherrrill. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his in-laws, Robert and Lynda Cole of Oneida Castle, Barbara Deyoe of Canastota, Justine Ano of Sylvan Beach, Laurie Tessier, and Lori and Marty Collins all of Durhamvill­e. He was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Ano, and a sister, Bonnie Martin. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc. 201 James Street, Canastota. Burial will be held privately in Stockbridg­e Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Wednesday evening from 4-7 at the funeral home. It has been requested that memorials be made to either the SNIPSA Animal Protection, 4216 McCullough Ave., Olmes Park, TX 78212 or the Kelberman Center in support of autism, 2608 Genesee Street, Utica, NY 13502, Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
