Independent candidates. I research and support the best candidates for the office, and Melissa Stearns is the best.

Considering the challenges facing our city, Oneida needs a judge who is tough on crime. Melissa Stearns is the only candidate who has a proven track record as a prosecuting trial attorney, working with law enforcement to get criminals off our streets.

She spent 12 years as Assistant and Acting District Attorney in Madison County. During her time in the DA’s office, she prosecuted criminals for both felony and misdemeanor offenses, in Oneida City Court, as well as Madison County Court. She also served as the DWI Assistant District Attorney for 2 years, and brought cases before Grand Juries.

In the 12 years since leaving the DA’s office, Melissa has served as the Madison County Supreme Court Principal Law Clerk to the Hon. Don Cerio, Jr. This experience as the full time Court Attorney has prepared Melissa to preside over her own court room with fairness and integrity. Her legal experience spans both criminal and civil matters, and she brings respect and dignity to her profession.

Melissa and her husband Mike are raising their 3 teenagers in Oneida, have resided in Oneida for nearly 10 years, and are committed to making our city a better place to live. Please consider her vast experience as she is the only candidate with experience as a prosecuting trial attorney as well as in the NYS Supreme Court.
