Winter sports registration and information nights set

The Vernon-VeronaSherrill School District is holding winter sports registration and information nights through November.

The first night is on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sheveron Center for all sports.

On Sunday, Nov. 17, also from 6 to 8 p.m. there will be another meeting at the Sheveron Center for all sports except wrestling.

There will be a final registration evening on Sunday, Dec. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sheveron Center for boys volleyball and modified basketball.

Student athletes are asked to download their medical consent forms, interval health history, and extra- curricular activities code, which can be downloaded at the VVS Athletics page. Those forms will also be available at registration.

Athletes must also have a current physical on file with the school nurse. If not, officials ask that students bring a copy to registration.

Winter start dates for VVS are as follows:

• Monday, Nov. 11 - varsity and junior varsity wrestling 9 to 11 a.m. at VVS High School;

• Monday, Nov. 18 - modified volleyball tryouts from 3 to 5 p.m. in the volleyball gym;

• Monday, Nov. 18 - varsity and junior varsity volleyball tryouts from 5 to 7 p.m. in the volleyball gym;

• Monday, Nov. 18 - varsity and junior varsity basketball tryouts from 3 to 6 p.m. in the middle/ high school gyms;

• Monday, Nov. 18 - varsity bowling tryouts at the Sherrill Community Activity Center from 3 to 5 p.m.;

• Monday, Nov. 18 - indoor track meeting at Sheveron from 3 to 5 p.m.;

• Monday, Dec. 2 - modified boys and girls basketball tryouts from 3 to 5 p.m. at middle/ high school gyms;

• Monday, Dec. 2 boys varsity and junior varsity tryouts TBD.
