Oneida needs Jim Chamberlain

-

The City of Oneida’s Council and Mayoral elections are just around the corner. I was born and raised in Oneida My husband and I raised our six children on Wilson St. I lived in that home in the flats for 68 years. I would still be there, but the flood of 2013 changed that for me. That was a very sad time for our family an our neighbors. It took the City Officials quite a while to figure things out and to get some type of organization. During that time, the biggest help came from volunteers, church groups. family and friends. There was one City Councilor person that was down in the flats helping us almost every day that summer, and that was Jim Chamberlain. Jim used his time, his personal equipment and labor helping whoever needed help. Jim was helping hand out cleaning supplies, he power washed some basements and trying to find answers for us after the flood, during the time when we thought City Officials had forgot about us. That was a very scary, lonely and helpless feeling seeing your house and everything you loved of it get destroyed. Jim knew what we were feeling and that is why he was there always trying to reassure us. Jim has always had a great love for the City. After he retired, he decided to give local government a try. I remember Jim visiting my Army on many occasions looking for guidance or just some City history and knowledge that Army could share with him. Jim knew my husband, Army, dedicated his life trying to make Oneida a better place to live. I think Jim has that same love and determination. Thank you for all your help during our time of need Jim, Army would be proud of you. Oneida needs a full-time Mayor like Jim Chamberlain. Joyce Carinci
