Williams draws Empire 8 honors
MORRISVILLE, N.Y. >> The Empire 8 league office announced its Players of the Week for the week ending Nov. 10 Monday afternoon, giving Morrisville senior running back Kinsey Williams (Rome, N.Y.) the nod as the Offensive Player of the Week following his collegiate best performance on Saturday.
Williams recorded a career high 174 yards rushing Saturday, scoring three times, as the Mustangs toppled St. John Fisher in a 4913 E8 win.
Williams, who averaged 7.9 yards per run, collected a long carry of 27 yards, with rushing scores coming at distances of 6-, 5, and 27-yards, respectively.
The senior collected over 150 yards and three scores by the half. Williams also added 41 yards to his tallies on four receptions, accounting for 215 total yards offense.
A graduate of Notre Dame High, Williams is currently tied for third overall in the Empire 8 in rushing yards, having collected a net 807 to average 98.7 yards per game.
He is tied for the league lead in rushing touchdowns (14), while ranking second overall in scoring with 9.3 points per game. Williams has scored three touchdowns three times on the year, including against Husson University and SUNY Cortland.
Adding 321 yards receiving to his stats totals, Williams also ranks sixth in the Empire 8 in all-purpose yards, averaging a total 125.3 per game.
Williams is majoring in business administration at SUNY Morrisville. He is the son of Bron and Brad Williams of Rome.
