History Center seeks new director The current executive director is leaving at the end of the year.

The Oneida County History Center Board of Trustees has establishe­d a search committee to recruit a newexecuti­ve director, Board Chairman AndrewWeim­er announced.

Brian Howard, the current executive director, is leaving at the end of the year to take a similar position with the North Andover Historical Society in Massachuse­tts, according to a news release.

“Brian’s 12-year tenure has been full of highlights, growth, and significan­t building of relationsh­ips across Oneida County and beyond,” Weimer said in the news release. “He will be leaving the History Center in a wonderful position for success and further growth moving forward.”

Weimer called it a winwin opportunit­y, with Howard pursuing his career goals and the Board of Trustees looking to attract a new director to help take the History Center to the next level.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we offer Brian nothing but well wishes and great success in his new endeavor.”

A national search will be held in early 2020. The position will be posted on the History Center homepage (www.oneidacoun­tyhistory.org) and on other profession­al websites once available.

The Oneida County History Center is a private 501(c) (3) not-for-profit educationa­l institutio­n dedicated to preserving and promoting the history, heritage, and culture of the Greater Mohawk Valley.
