ONEIDA61, ROMEFREEACADEMY 59 >> It took Oneida three quarters to erase a first-quarter deficit against Rome Free Academy on Friday.

It only took the stateranked No. 8 team a blink of an eye to capture its sixth straight win and remain unbeaten, 61-59 over Rome Free Academy.

With the score knotted at 59-59 and the game potentially bound for overtime, Oneida freshman guard Jordan French sank the game-winner before being mobbed by her teammates in front of the Oneida bench.

Junior Sydney Lusher led Oneida with 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists on the evening. Junior guard Ella Rainbow netted 17 more points for Oneida, adding 4 rebounds and 2 assists, and sophomore Kaylin Curro followed with 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.

French finished with 4 points, 4 rebounds, two assists, and the biggest basket in her young career to ensure Oneida remained unbeaten heading into the holiday break.

VIA 41>> With Chittenango and Cazenovia tied 34-34 after three quarters of action, the hosting Bears pulled away with a 19-7 fourth quarter to post their fifth straight win of the season and remain unbeaten in Bear Country on Friday. Senior guard Ally Shoemaker fell one assist and one rebound shy of a triple-double for the 5-0 Bears, recording 13 points, 9 assists, 9 rebounds, and 7 steals in the victory. Chittenango freshman guard Mia McReynolds and junior Forward EmilyMoon tied for a teamhigh 14 points. Cazenovia forward Lindsey Lawson led all scorers with 21 in the defeat.
