HIGHER EDUCATION Cazenovia College professor to appear on CNN
A professor from Cazenovia College will be featured in two episodes of the CNN series “Race for the White House Season 2.
Dr. John Robert Greene, the Paul J. Schupf Professor of History and Humanities at Cazenovia College, will be on the television series.
The second season of the original series debuts on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 9 p.m.
Each episode of the six-part CNN docuseries tells the story of one iconic campaign for the Presidency of the United States while capturing the tension and drama of high-stakes presidential elections and their impact on the country, according to a news release.
The six elections covered in season two are: 1912 Wilson vs.
Roosevelt vs. Taft; 1952 Eisenhower vs. Stevenson; 1964 Johnson vs. Goldwater; 1976 Carter vs. Ford; 1980 Reagan vs. Carter; 2008 Obama vs. McCain. Greene’s insights on the election campaigns are featured in the 1976 and 1952 episodes, airing on March 15 and March 22 respectively.
“I am grateful to CNN and the producers for the opportunity to participate in such a widely respected television series,” Greene said in the news release. “Providing historical and political insight adds perspective to the 2020 presidential campaign coverage.”
Dr. Greene has taught at Cazenovia College for the past forty years. He also serves as the College Archivist, the director of the History Program, the co-director of the Dual Major in History and Social Science, the director of the Washburn Teaching and Research Fellowship Program, and the director of the annual Wheler Conference on World Affairs.
Dr. Greene’s teaching and writing specialty lies in American Political History, particularly the American presidency. He has written or edited nineteen books. In 1993 he was named Distinguished Faculty Member, and in 2000 he was awarded Cazenovia College’s first endowed chair.
