Asking for support

I write this letter to request the support of the residents of Canastota to support my bid for Village Mayor. Eight years ago I wrote a very similar letter for Trustee, that I would bring my professional and management experience to the Village every day. I have continued my service to our community and would like to carry the Village’s momentum into the next 4 years.

Currently, we are living in some unknown times, with the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, the news cycle is consumed with outbreak and cancellation news. After historical gains in the economy, the stock market has lost over 20% in the last 30 days, schools are closing, events canceled, but the secondary effects are what should be our biggest concerns. People not being able to go to work, child care if schools are closed, sports coming to a halt and with Social Distancing this is going to have a long term effect on our economy and our social well-being.

I am prepared to work as your leader to address the next steps, as needed, in our community for the residual effects of this virus, at the same time addressing the concerns about the normal day-to-day services in the village. The election is going to change the dynamics of the leadership in the Village of Canastota with the Mayor retiring and 2 trustee terms expiring. I am the experienced executive to get the Trustees up to speed so that they can be effective as soon as possible. I have managed and mentored for over 35 years and look to their expertise to add to the effectiveness of the village board.

I have been in customer service my entire adult life and as Mayor, my job is to address your concerns and provide you with the best village we can have. I have the education and business knowledge to grow and market our village resources, to maximize our community assets.

As Mayor, I will be accountable to you, the citizens of Canastota.

Thank You in advance as you vote your support for me and your Village on Wednesday, March 18 from Noon to 9 p.m. at the Village Offices.

Bill Haddad Deputy Mayor, Village of

Canastota

On Wednesday, March 18th, please join me in voting for Bill Haddad for Mayor of Canastota. Bill has been a fully active, dedicated trustee and deputy mayor for eight years. Bill has stood shoulder to shoulder with me since 2012. Bill knows the ins and outs of managing a village but more importantly he has the executive experience required to lead our village. Bill’s thinking is asset-based, not deficit-based as his opponents; his focus is on the future of the village not the past; and his dedication to serving the Canastota community is unmatched.

Bill is a thoughtful leader who takes the time to hear from all sides involved before making a decision. He has the educational credentials and experience in executive leadership, management, budgeting, problem solving, communication, union negotiations, strategic planning, municipal infrastructure, human resources, capital projects, municipal laws, ceremonial events, intergovernmental relations, emergency planning, and community engagement. Bill’s sincere enthusiasm, high level of integrity, positive attitude, trustworthiness, honesty, tireless work ethic, and ability to inspire others are all qualities needed to be a successful mayor.

Bill has worked diligently behind the scenes serving on codes committee, recreation committee, Memorial Day Parade and 911 committees, DPW liaison, technology liaison, and has continued this commitment throughout his eight years as trustee never missing an event. Bill has no conflict of interest and keeps all residents in mind when making decisions.

Many hours and hard work have been put towards improving our village’s blueprint and increasing economic development. We have seen an increase in business attraction and retention, tourism, beautification, jobs, annual community events, and special projects such as our downtown enhancement and pocket neighborhood. This continues to make our village one of the best places to live.

I ask that you please continue the progress that is happening in Canastota by electing an experienced and trained deputy mayor. With our Deputy Mayor Bill Haddad at the helm of our village government, I have no doubt that we will continue to be one of the best! I ask that you support and vote for Bill Haddad to keep our progress moving forward. Mayor Carla Deshaw
