Giving Tuesday

Social distancing may seem to separate us, but we continue to show how strong our community is. We want to thank everyone who continues to assist in keeping our program operating. Join us for #Givingtuesdaynow, a global day of Unity on Tuesday May 5, 2020 as a response to the need we have seen caused by the COVID-19. Karing Kitchen will be hosting a Drive BY- Drop OFF at 116 West Grove Street, Oneida from 9-11 a.m. and from 3-5 p.m. Food donations as well as hygiene and school supplies will be able to be dropped off to the carts parked near the curb. Monetary donations may also be dropped off at this time or you can continue to mail or donate through the website http://www.karingkitchen.org. 100% of all donations go directly to food costs. Because of the generosity of our community, we were able to deliver 30,000 lbs of food in April. This act of kindness is just one of the many ways to strengthen our sense of community while practicing social distancing.

Tenney was Ineffective

A recent letter by Kurt Knight sought to set the record straight regarding the SPOONS act. Claudia Tenney was a supporter for SPOONSS, but it was all show. In two years, she was unable to get the bill passed even though she was a majority member of the House at the time. The Republican House Freedom Caucus opposed SPOONSS as they apparently value saving dollars over supporting true American made manufacturing. Congressman Anthony Brindisi led the new Democratic Majority in the House in 2019 to make the SPOONSS Act a reality. Although President Trump constantly refers to the House under the Democratic Party as “do nothing,” they were the ones to get this bill passed into law. They also passed more than 400 other bills that languished in the Republican Senate, where do nothing is an art. Let’s recognize Claudiatenney as a good cheerleader but an ineffective legislator. Anthony Brindisi is the one who is getting the job done for the 22nd Congressional District.
