SHERRILLBIE Debbie Morris, 55, Coral Springs, Fla., formerly of Sherrill, died Monday, July 6, 2020, at her residence, after being stricken with a sudden illness Born in Oneida, on July 25, 1964; she was the daughter of Erskin “Ernie” and Barbara Biggar Morris. A resident of Florida for the past 28 years, Debbie was a graduate of Vernon -Verona Sherrill High School and the State University of New York at Purchase with a bachelors degree in ne arts. An instructor in dance and choreographer by profession, Debbie owned and operated her own dance studio for many years. She danced with the New York City Ballet, the Philadelphia Ballet, the North Carolina Ballet, the Buffalo Ballet, the Dayton Ballet, and made appearances with the Mohawk Valley Performing Arts. She truly loved her career since ballet was her passion. Debbie was a member of Dance Masters of America, truly loved her family and co-workers and was of the Catholic faith, having been raised as a child in St. Helena’s Church. Surviving besides her parents, are her sister, Mary (Mark) Gould of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; her two brothers, Gregory (Kathleen) Morris of Rochester and Steve (Meg) Morris of Essex Junction, Vt.; her nieces and nephews, Jennifer Gordon of Buffalo, Stephanie Bracconerie of New Jersey, Megan Gould of Michigan, Evan Gould and Mark Gould, Jr., both of Colorado; an aunt, Betsy Gordon of Saratoga Springs; an uncle, Barry Biggar of New York City; and other aunts and uncles in Alabama and Florida. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family, from St. Helena’s Church, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverend William Mesmer, pastor. Interment will be made in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Contributions, in her memory, may be made to the charity of one’s choice or New York City Ballet.
