MWPAI receives Community Foundation Grant

UTICA, N.Y. » Munson-williamspr­octor Arts Institute has received a $50,000 grant from The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida counties to help lay the foundation for Munson-williams’ next century by funding a plan to revitalize its 10-acre, 25-building campus and initiate lively community engagement.

The grant matches 50% of funds raised by Munson-williams during its Centennial Campaign. Combined, the Centennial funds will support new programmin­g initiative­s and major campus improvemen­ts including community greenspace, outdoor art installati­ons, and new landscapin­g, contributi­ng to the larger efforts to revitalize downtown neighborho­ods.

“We are pleased to partner on this important project that will not only continue to connect residents, students and tourists with opportunit­ies to engage with the arts, but will breathe life into our Downtown district, making it more vibrant and beautiful as it continues to grow,” Alicia Dicks, president/ceo of The Community Foundation, said in a news release.

“We are grateful to the Community Foundation for their generous support that will help add

a new dimension to the opportunit­ies and experience­s we provide for our region,” Anna D’ambrosio, president and CEO of Munsonwill­iams, said in the news release. “Through thoughtful planning and design, we will build connection­s with people, communitie­s, and art that make us more accessible, our neighborho­od more beautiful, and our city more dynamic.”

The grant is made possible by The Community Foundation, the Albert and Katherine Payne Memorial Fund, George E. Upson Fund, Harrison S. Sweet Memorial Fund, Investing in Art and Culture Fund, and the Rosamond G. Childs Fund.
