What do you need from God today? Has a door closed in your life or have plans changed?

I read in the Bible how in the blue waters, Peter, a veteran fisherman, had nothing to show for an entire night of fishing. Empty-handed, he returned back to shore.

Frustrated and weary from toil, Peter’s own occupation had failed him, as he “worked hard all night and caught nothing.”

Later that day, Jesus instructed Peter to try once again. He told him to take his boat out into the deep waters and let down his nets for a catch. Yet it would be fruitless to go out to sea in the afternoon when the fish were scarce. For the evening was the only advantageous time for fishing with nets in the waters.

And so, Peter reminded Jesus, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything.” But then Peter made a move in faith and declared, “Nevertheless, at your word, I will let down the nets.” (Luke 5:5)

Peter did not let the hurts, disappointments and failures that happened in the past block his future successes. Rather, Peter did his part. With obedience and faith, even though he didn’t understand it, he took his boat out into the water again. He let down his fishing nets and soon, they caught so many fish, their boat was so heavily laden, it almost sank. (Luke 5: 6-7)

In this Biblical story, Jesus was beckoning Peter to do something that he had never done before. He wanted to unlock Peter’s limited mindset to understand what faith in God could accomplish, so Peter could be led to experience an abundance of new blessings and succeed far beyond former expectations.

Has the pressure become so much that you just want to give up? Are you discouraged, because you see other people getting what they want and you’re still waiting for your breakthrough? Or are you looking back and second-guessing decisions made in the past? And, perhaps, you feel that you’ve “worked hard all night and caught nothing.” Now, you’re clinging to negative feelings, focusing on so-called shortcomings and persuading yourself that, ‘you’re not good enough,’ ‘you will never succeed,’ or ‘it’s just too late.’

But God wants us, like Peter, to realize that when we think we have exhausted all options or possibilities, we haven’t. Could it be that God is calling you to move beyond the ordinary? Can He be inviting you to take a leap in faith, so He can direct you to a new place of blessings? Does He want you to make peace with your past, thus you could experience newfound victory?

Know this: God has much more planned for you. So, yield yourself to His power. God’s resources have no boundaries, and His blessings are endless. Therefore, don’t stop or settle where you are now. Let go of what’s holding you back. Forgive those who have hurt you. Don’t be critical toward yourself. You were created to do great things. Hence, get excited again about your

precious life and progress forward.

God wants you to dream bigger than you are dreaming now. He wants you to be more blessed than you’ve been in the past. And He would like you to move beyond the limits that others have placed on you, for He desires to do something new for you. Where you are at this moment is not where you are going to remain. So, cast out your nets one more time, and try again. You are close to your miracle. Some time ago, a reader wrote to me and told how he and his mother had lived in homeless shelters. But when it was time to leave the shelter, they found themselves out on the streets. In his letter, the young man described, “Always knowing this was only temporary, our trust in God with your help from reading your columns allowed us to be strong and rise above this situation. Every article you wrote gave us strength, courage, most of all hope and a stronger faith.”

Regardless of the odds, the mother and son did not give up or allow shortterm stumbling blocks to spoil their attitude. Nor, did they let what occurred in the past impede their future course. Daily, they did their best and used the wonderful gifts God has bestowed to them.

The young man wrote, “I soon began working, secured a place to live, and made sure there was food to eat, in addition to nearby a place of worship. It’s been over four years now, and we still talk about sleeping under a bridge or in some nearby bushes.”

And he continued, “I print up copies of your writings to give to others during their difficult times. You are one of our guardian angels. Thank you so much from both of us for all the inspiration you bring to the world.”

This family rebounded from a time of weakness and had a 360-degree turnaround! Their future wasn’t canceled by one mistake. For setbacks, past challenges or adverse situations do not have to stop your God-given destiny.

You were born a champion, and God is calling you to make a move in the direction of something greater. Never quit. You can overcome any obstacles. And your life can be more than you ever dreamed possible.

Whatever your need may be, ask God to lead and guide you. Stay in faith. Tune out the negative voices. Wonderful blessings have yet to come. So, trust God, and cast out your nets of faith, even when you don’t understand what’s happening. There are no limits for our loving God and in His time, He will reward you. For God is saying to you today, “I can” and “I will.”

There are bigger things to come in your future. You’re on the verge of a miracle coming to pass.
