Verona — Sunday, December 20th, Santa will be ditching the sleigh for a fire truck! Santa will be making the rounds through the streets of Verona from 2- 4 p. m. with the firefighte­rs of the Verona Fire Department ( VFD). The VFD has posted Santa’s routes on their Facebook page so residents can prepare. If you don’t see Santa driving by your house on the schedule and you live in the VFD fire district in the hamlet of Verona, send a direct message to the fire department via Facebook and they’ll try to accommodat­e you.

School Board meeting

Morrrisvil­le — The next Morrisvill­e- Eaton Central School District Board of Education meeting will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 7 p. m. in the middle/ high school library.

Vernon — The Augusta Presbyteri­an Church will worship at the former Vernon Center Presbyteri­an Church on Sunday, December 27 at 10 a. m. The church has been restored by its current owner, Garrett Law. Everyone in the community is encouraged to come. The theme of the service will be saying good bye to 2020.

Augusta Center — The Augusta Presbyteri­an Church, in partnershi­p with Winner Circle Pizza, and with the assistance of the Oneida American Legion is proving free ham dinners for Christmas. The church is giving away 50 hams with sides to be prepared at home. The dinners can be picked up on a first come first serve basis at the church, located at 2345

Route 26, Augusta Center, on December 20th at noon. This will be as drive through pick up because of COVID - 19. All are welcome.

Verona — Fred “Fritz” Scherz, Jr., Councilman on the Verona Town Board, will postpone his 11th Annual Holiday Party for all Town of Verona residents. This event has been held either the first or second Sunday of December for the past 10 years at the Verona Fire Hall ( 5555 Volunteer Ave.) in Verona.
