ONEIDA- Nancy E. De Massa, 87, formerly of Cleveland Ave., Oneida, died Wednesday, December 16, 2020, in Crouse Community Center, Morrisvill­e, where she had been a resident since April of 2018. Born in Oneida, on July 14, 1933, she was the daughter of R. Harold and Mayme Richmond English. A lifelong resident of the area, Nancy was a graduate of Oneida High School.. She married David B. De Massa in the First United Methodist Church of Oneida, on October 24, 1953. Mr. De Massa died July 28, 2007. Prior to her retirement, Nancy was employed with Oneida Healthcare and later with the of  ces of Dr. James Pfeiff,. She was a member of the First Presbyteri­an Church, where she served as a member of the church choir and helped in the Second Hand Rose Shop, served as president of the Seneca PTA, served as a Girl Scout troop leader for nine years, a charter member of the Oneida Civic Chorale and was a member of the Oneida Arts Council. Surviving are her three daughters and their husbands, Donna ( Andrew) Whalen of Jamesville, Debra ( Joseph) Todd of Oneida, and Darla ( Paul) Mazurkiewi­cz of Baldwinsvi­lle; her son, Mark De Massa of Oneida; her nine grandchild­ren, Michael De Massa, Lisa De Massa, Zack Whalen, Ryan Whalen, David Mazurkiewi­cz, Anna Mazurkiewi­cz, Emily ( Eric) Cleckner, Shane ( Traci) Todd and Ashley ( Gary) Reisman; eleven great- grandchild­ren; her brother, Harold “Butch” English of Oneida; and her sisterin- law Josephine English of Sherrill; and several nieces and nephews. She was predecease­d by her daughter- in- law Sylvia De Massa, her two sisters, Virginia Hargrave and Barbara Hargrave and her brother, Raymond L. “Scoop” English. The De Massa Family would like to thank the entire Staff of Crouse Community Center for the excellent care given to their mother for the past three years, and especially for the past ten months they were truly Nancy’s second family. Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Tuesday from the Campbell- Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida with the Reverend Donna Chapman, of  ciating. Interment will be made in Valley View Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 11 AM- 1 PM, Tuesday, prior to the funeral.
