GEORGIANNA WILLIAMS

-

Georgianna Jane Williams, of Oneida, passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Oneida Health ECF where she had been a resident since February 2019. Georgianna was born on February 22, 1934 to Howell T. Williams and Edith F. ( Hodges) Williams.

Her name was derived from her birthday being the same as the national holiday celebrating George Washington. “Georgie”, as she was known by family and friends, was a dutiful daughter, caring for her mother and then her father until their passing.

As a child, she loved trips to the lake and visiting close family members. As a young adult she pursued many interests including astronomy, playing the accordion, and oil painting. She traveled to Florida for many years with her parents as “snowbirds” and in later years enjoyed her travels to Washington State, Oregon, and Arizona to visit her sister, nieces, and their families. She was a lifetime member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir and where her father was a lay reader. Her faith in God was part of her life from an early age. She also sang with the Oneida Civic Chorale for many seasons. After her parents’ deaths she continued with her hobbies and living an independent life, making many friends along the way, including those special friends who made sure she never ate alone on holidays. She never missed a family member’s birthday or other special occasions sending cards and gifts. She was an ardent letter writer, keeping the family abreast of her activities and interests and continuing family traditions.

She was a beloved family member. She was predeceased by her mother ( 1971), father ( 1974) and sister, Alice L. Campbell who passed on December 16, 2020, just 6 days before her. She is survived by nieces Michal A. Parker ( Thomas), Fountain Hills, AZ, and Deborah A. Mushen, Kennewick WA, several great nieces, and great nephews, plus cousins. The family thanks the many caregivers who took care of her in her last years.

A memorial service will be private at a future date. Interment will take place in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Georgianna’s memory to a choice of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc., 342 Main St., Oneida. You may view the obituary, share a thought or memory of Georgianna, or send a message of condolence at
