Rita A. Lucarelli, 84, of 4 Maple Avenue, Canastota, passed away unexpected­ly on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at her home. She was born on February 16, 1936, in Canastota, the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Greganti) Lucarelli.

Rita spent her early years in Canastota, graduating from Canastota High School in 1953. She later lived in Syracuse for 40 years, later graduating from Syracuse University, with a degree in Social Work and Psychology.

She worked as an Administra­tive Assistant at General Electric in Syracuse for 36 years, retiring in 1993.

Rita was a member of St. Agatha’s Church in Canastota.

She enjoyed animals, especially the many stray cats she fed at her home.

Surviving are: three brothers and two sisters-inlaw, Frank and Gail Lucarelli of Linden, NJ, Charles Lucarelli of Pennsylvan­ia, and Peter and Susan Lucarelli of Getzville, NY; two sisters and a brotherin-law, Louise Denike of Walls, MS, and Barbara and Douglas Laverell of Pearland, TX; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rita was predecease­d by; two brothers, John and Edward Lucarelli, and a sister, Evelyn Lucarelli.

Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Interment will be in St. Agatha’s Cemetery, Canastota. Arrangemen­ts are under the supervisio­n of the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., 201 James Street, Canastota.
