-

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA - Patricia (“Patty”) Mae Grabow, 76, of Stockton, California, passed away on Sunday January 10, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Stockton, California from COVID-19 related pneumonia. Patty was born in Canastota, NY, on November 17, 1944, the daughter of Chris and Nettie (Bartlett) Grabow. She grew up in the small town of Siloam in Central NY on the family farm before moving to Oneida, NY, where she graduated from Oneida High School in 1962. Patty graduated from Central City Business Institute in Syracuse and received her Associate of Applied Science degree in Marketing from Rochester Institute of Technology. She was employed at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY from 1965-1978 as an administrative assistant. She then moved to Boston where she worked as an executive secretary.

Patty was an adventuresome spirit, moving west in her Volkswagen Bug to the San Francisco area in 1980. While in California, she worked as an executive secretary at various companies and spent her time boating, enjoying the California sunshine, and writing poetry dedicated to her family. She was always game for skiing in Lake Tahoe or a weekend road trip to Reno or Las Vegas. But she especially loved being “Aunt Patty” to her many nieces and nephews.

In her later years, Patty was a beloved resident of Crestwood Manor Nursing Facility since 2014, where she was known for her sharp wit and sense of humor. She continued her love for education and maintained a busy schedule of self-improvement classes. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Crestwood Manor for their extraordinary care and compassionate treatment of Patty. Patty is survived by two brothers and three sisters-in law: Christian H. and Patricia (“Pat”) Moot Grabow of Oneida, NY, Barry G. and Susan H. Grabow of Pineville, NC, and Sandra L. Grabow of Verona, NY, as well as her sister Christine Durant and her companion Mark Davis of Oneida, NY, many loving nieces and nephews, and her companion and partner Steve Thornton of Pittsburg, CA. She is predeceased by her parents and brother, Bradley A. Grabow of Verona, NY.

A private memorial service and interment of ashes will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Vernon, NY, at a time when the family can be together to celebrate her life.
