DOUGLAS C. PALMITER

ONEIDA - Douglas C. Palmiter, 73, Bates Avenue, died Monday, January 18, 2021, in Oneida Healthcare, where he had been a patient for the last eight days.

Born in Oneida, on Father’s Day, June 15, 1947, he was the son of the late Clare Franzen and Dorothy Browne Palmiter. Growing up in Oneida, Doug was a graduate of St. Patrick’s School, Oneida High School, Class of 1965, Colgate University, Class of 1969 and Syracuse University, receiving his MBA in 1978. He served with the New York State National Guard.

Douglas worked with the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. from 1971 to 1976, was employed with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells from 1978 to 1982 and had a certied public accounting practice in Rochester from 1978 to 2004. For twenty years, he was employed part-time with Vernon Downs.

Doug was a faithful communicant of St. Patrick’s Church and volunteered as a math tutor at the Eastside Community Center, while residing in Rochester.

Surviving are his ancée, Kitty Mc Mahon of Oneida; his sister, Nancy (Edward) Walter of Canastota; his nephew, James Douglas (Tammy) Fauls of Clockville; his two nieces, Karen Fauls-traynor of Oneida and Katharine (Wayne) Uber of Chapel Hill, NC; two great-nephews, Sean (Amanda) traynor of Cazenovia, Liam M. Traynor of Rochester; two great-nieces, Caitlin E. Traynor and Jamie L. Curtis, both of Oneida; a great-great nephew, Gibson H. Traynor and a great-great niece, Eleanor P. Traynor.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family and interment will be made in the family plot in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. There are no hours of visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Campbell-dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida.
