Kia’s Telluride is one perfect SUV

- By Marc Grasso

Perfection: the condition, state or quality of being free or as free as possible from all flaws or defects.

There are so many choices in the flooded market of SUVS, one often doesn’t even know where to start. But when price point is high on the list, look at the Kia Telluride, because it fits the definition of perfection really well.

Size, dependability and comfort are all pretty big boxes to check when looking for a vehicle these days. For the Telluride, we sharpened our pencil.

Consider: Heated and ventilated leather front seats, remote engine start, a 10.25-inch touch screen infotainment system with Navigation ... just a few of the interior and comfort features, while Android Auto and Apple Carplay, Tri-zone Climate Control, Siriusxm and wireless charging pad are also standard. Third-row seating was standard and was quite roomy for your average adult with no reduction in comfort, an anomaly in today’s vehicles.

For me, the exterior is a huge portion of the Telluride’s success. Although the square-like exterior might not be similar to those luxury brands, it really is a defining symbol for Kia. The front horizontal rectangular grill is nicely proportioned to the body while the front vertical rectangular LED headlights are eye-catching.

Similar to those of Hyundai’s Palisades and Genesis’ GV80, they have the front fascia appearance department covered.

Our Gravity Gray SX model had all-wheel drive. The upgraded SX prestige package came with heads-up display, premium headliner, heated and ventilated second-row seats and rain-sensing windshield wipers, all for $2,300.

Power was not an issue in the Telluride as the 3.8L V6 engine had no worries on the highway or the snow. It was a pleasure to know that its ability to combat all types of weather conditions with multiple drive modes was there at the turn of a knob.

Hey Kia, great job with the Telluride. It is loud and clear why this SUV is so nice in style and appearance all while maintaining a great bang for the buck. Did we mention that great warranty? I think you get the hint; the Telluride is one all-around phenomenal SUV.
