WAMPSVILLE- Harold E. Hyland, 86, Daniels Drive, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021, in Crouse Community Center, where he had been a resident for the past two weeks. Born in Munnsville on October 13, 1934, he was the son of Davis H. and Emma Thurston Hyland. A lifelong resident of the area, Harold was educated in Stockbridg­e Valley High School. He married Caroline Owcarz in Buffalo on August 30, 1957. Mrs. Hyland died on November 15, 1999. Prior to his retirement, Harold was employed by Carrier Corporatio­n as an Engineer Troublesho­oter, where he was employed for thirty-four years. He was a life member of the Order of the Owls, Oneida Nest 1606, a past member of the Wampsville Fire Department, a former trustee of the Stockbridg­e Cemetery Associatio­n, a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Sylvan Beach Post 1153and of the Christian faith. Harold has been a resident of Wampsville since 1963.

Surviving are: two daughters, Dawn (Michael) Krueger and Karen Walasek, all of Oneida; grandchild­ren, Joshua and Stephanie Barlow; two greatgrand­children, Michael Barlow and Hayden Bartholome­w; two sisters, Abbie Deraway of Munnsville and Ruth Grifn of Raleigh, NC and several nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by three sisters, Gloria Chesebro, Blanche Maiura and Rose Manseld and one brother, Bert L. Hyland. Graveside services will be held in the spring of this year, in Stockbridg­e Cemetery, at a date and time to be announced.
