The Oneida Daily Dispatch (Oneida, NY)
YOUR OPINIONS
Spring is almost here, and it is once again time for the Oneida City Center Committee (OC3) to beautify our downtown with pots overflowing with splashes of color that make the City Center inviting as you drive, bike, or walk along our streets. We recognize the impact COVID-19 has had on communities across the country, and Oneida is no exception.
Given the severely negative economic impact on our local businesses and institutions, we are very grateful for the financial support we received in 2020 to enable OC3 to continue with the downtown flower pots project.
Last year’s flowers were made possible by generous donations from the following: Oneida Office Supply, Kay Real Estate, Campanie and Wayland-smith PLLC, Williams Sewing Center, Costello Eye Physicians & Surgeons PLLC, Sarah Marshall CPA, Nye Automotive Group, Oneida Savings Bank Charitable Foundation, Community Bank, and the City of Oneida.
If you’ve enjoyed the flowers, please thank these merchants and businesses when you see them! Their support has been and continues to be critical to positive impacts in the downtown.
As you may know, OC3 is a group of interested individuals who formed a non-profit organization in 2016 dedicated to improving the Oneida City Center. We seek to do this by promoting three initiatives: Beautification, Security, and Awareness of the City Center and its potential.
Our mission is to build a strong, vibrant City Center; to stimulate growth and community involvement; and to act as a catalyst for positive change.
Please visit our website at www.oneidacitycenter.org or email us at oc3.org@gmail.com.
We appreciate your ideas, input and comments about improving the City Center, and are always looking for people who want to become involved in our projects.
The City Center Market was cancelled last summer due to COVID-19. This year we are hoping to again co-sponsor the Annual City Center Market every Thursday in Higginbotham Park, featuring music and children’s activities, as well as local vendors. We hope to see you there.
And when you’re downtown, please remember to patronize the many businesses we have here!
On behalf of OC3, I want to thank everyone for their continued support of our efforts to enhance downtown, and to improve its economic viability. Come on downtown, there are great things going on!
Paul Marco President, OC3
