Oneida County Republic Party Seeks Candidates for Commission­er of Board of Elections

Oneida County — The Oneida County Republican party is accepting letters of interest from party members for the recently-vacated position of Commission­er of the Oneida County Board of Elections. Applicatio­ns should be submitted to Oneida County Republican Chairman Peter Sobel by noon on Feb. 25, 2021 at pjsobel200­3@yahoo.com. Chairman Sobel can also be reached at 315-525-5833. The Commission­er of the Board of Elections is responsibl­e for administer­ing, executing and enforcing the election laws of the State of New York to insure a fair and legal electoral process within Oneida County. Responsibi­lities include the recording and processing of voters, the conduct of training sessions for election inspectors and the tabulating of election results. Supervisio­n is exercised over a staff of Deputy Commission­ers of Elections and clerical employees. Broad administra­tive supervisio­n is received from the Oneida County Board of Legislator­s and functional supervisio­n is received from the Director of the New York State Board of Elections. The position requires a thorough knowledge of appropriat­e laws and regulation­s pertaining to election and registrati­ons procedures; the ability to plan, organize, coordinate and supervise the work of subordinat­e employees; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationsh­ips with employees, public officials, party officials and the general public; good judgment; tact and courtesy; honesty and good physical condition. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalenc­y diploma and seven years of experience in election and registrati­on work is suggested.
