‘Thin Blue Line’ flag

-

After reading and re-reading the article “County tables ‘Thin Blue Line Flag’ resolution” with great interest yesterday, it at once informed me that the national battle for the will and heritage of the United States has come to roost at our own local level.

This was the first I had heard of the issue or the plaintiff group HAARC, thanks to your thorough, fair reporting- a breath of investigative coverage that is refreshing in the morass of what passes for journalism in media coverage these days.

I will be plain to state at the onset that I wholeheartedly support continuing to fly that Thin Blue Line Flag at the appropriate official County facilities. The reasoning and the evidence presented by County Supervisors Chmn. John Becker of Sullivan and Matt Roberts of Oneida to continue flying the flag fairly represent the overwhelming Majority of Madison County residents.

After checking the Oneida Daily Dispatch poll cited by the HAARC people at 10 AM on Feb. 19, I found that 59% of respondents were in favor of the status quo, and only 38% in favor of removing the flag altogether. The petition that HAARC started on left-leaning WE CARE 2 is up to 11,500 as of the same moment in time. (Those numbers should be subject to audit for legitimacy, since We Care 2 is an international platform.)

Organizations like HAARC have become a cottage industry in America these days. Whether or not they are an arm of the Marxist-funded international ‘Black Lives Matter’ I can’t say, but no doubt they will identify themselves at some point.

I do agree with them that citizens should have the right of participating in public discourse, and appreciate that they have thus far gone about their activities in a lawful manner. But Supervisor Becker’s mention of the courts should serve as a shot across HAARC’S bow – that’s where it will go after the demonstrations and counterdemonstrations are done. This is Madison County, not Portland, Oregon, thank God!

I disagree that the Thin Blue Line Flag is a symbol of pervasive racism or what they refer to as ‘white nationalism’. The left’s cottage industry of bashing traditional values because they allege “some people are threatened by them.” is the sort of thin-skinned pseudo reasoning they falsely purport, and the water-boy mainstream media dutiful repeats and perpetuates. A lie often repeated becomes the truth, so to speak. Because some knuckleheads waved that flag around at the January 6th incursion (not insurrection) of the Capitol doesn’t delegitimize the value of the flag for its original sacrifice-honoring purpose!

Madison County has been blessed with law enforcement that has been overwhelmingly fair, just, and effective. Our previous Sherriff, Allen Riley, was all of that and extremely popular, too. He happened to be a Black man who enjoyed support from people of all racial and political backgrounds. Fly that flag for him and every police officer who ever served us with fairness and justice! Wake up Americans! Don’t let a few misguided vocalists deprive you of your symbols, one by one, or next they’ll be taking down the Christian Flag because “it’s hateful”, and even the American flag as the world descends into globalist tyranny.

With appreciation and respect. Scott Trefz Canastota
