Armed robbery investigat­ion ongoing

ONEIDA, N.Y. » On Wednesday, shortly after 7 p.m., the Oneida City Police (OCP) were reportedly dispatched to the area of the 100 block of Washington Ave, between Main Street and Broad Street, regarding a report of gunshots, according to a press release shared on the OCP Facebook page.

Upon arrival, officers learned that an apparent drug transactio­n had gone bad and turned into an armed robbery. During the robbery, allegedly shots were fired, however, no one was injured. This incident had occurred just before 7 p.m., according to police.

It was learned that there were two Caucasian male suspects who fled the scene in a dark blue 2013 Nissan Altima, 4 door sedan. The vehicle fled westbound on Washington Ave and was located a short time later on Mill St in the Village of Vernon, unoccupied. The vehicle was seized as potential evidence and for further processing, officials said.

At this time, the Oneida City Police are continuing to conduct an investigat­ion into this incident. The suspects have not yet been apprehende­d, and the firearm used has not been recovered.

The Oneida police are asking the public for their help. Residents are asked to check their surveillan­ce cameras in that area, just before 7 p.m., and contact the OCP with any recordings of the suspects and/or vehicle.
