ONEIDA CASTLE– Judith Ann Metcher, 77, West Second Street, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 11, 2021. Judi was born in Oneida, on August 9, 1943, the daughter of the late Howard and the late Marjorie Graves Metcher. She was raised in the area and graduated from Oneida High School, Class of 1961 and Morrisvill­e College, where she received her nursing degree. A veteran of the Viet Nam War era, Judi served with the United States Army, stationed in Europe and traveled widely throughout the continent while stationed there.

Prior to her retirement, Judi was a long time employee of the former Oneida Valley National Bank and previously with Oneida Agway, She was a devoted member of Cochran Memorial Presbyteri­an Church, where she served as an elder and had a great love for her church family, was an active volunteer in the community, served as a board member of the Oneida Area Council of Churches, was an accomplish­ed golfer and enjoyed her golng friends and frequently took short sightseein­g trips amidst all of the attraction­s that upstate New York had to offer. Judi was the family genealogis­t, spending a considerab­le amount of time researchin­g the family tree, often contacting people in the United States as well as in Europe, in an effort to expand and join the various branches.

As a cancer survivor, she was always upbeat despite battling some health issues in recent years. Throughout her life Judi had a wonderful sense of humor, was always helping others and loved her fellow church members. Her family and friends will sorely miss her. She was a devoted daughter and sister to her family, as well as a gentle woman of great faith in her Savior. Surviving are her two brothers, Clifton Metcher and his wife, Linda, of Brevard, North Carolina and Richard of Hat Yai, Thailand. She was predecease­d by a younger, John Howard.

Family graveside services, will be held at their convenienc­e, in Oneida Castle Cemetery. Contributi­ons, in her memory, may be made to the Rescue Mission of Syracuse. Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of the Campbell-dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida
