Oneida’s Senior Night spoiled, more local scores

Local Round-up Girls Basketball Wed. Feb 24 Whitesboro 28, Oneida 51

After Oneida took down Whitesboro in their first meeting, Oneida was looking to do the same thing in their second. And with a great team effort, Oneida accomplish­ed that goal. Kaylin Curro had 19, and Sydney Lusher had 17 points with 10 steals in the win.

Cazenovia 29, Skaneatele­s 48

Cazenovia got off on the wrong foot with the start of their season, being taken down by Skaneatele­s. Carleigh Szalach had 14 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

Thurs. Feb 25 Hamilton 46, Chittenang­o 52

Due to a rough 4th quarter performanc­e, Hamilton lost its lead and ended losing against the Bears. Lindsey Speer finished the night with 13 points and 3 rebounds. Kyleigh Pearson added 12 points in the loss.

Fri. Feb 26 Chittenang­o 38, Hamilton 35

In the rematch, Hamilton fell once again to the Bears. Kyleigh Pearson led the Knights with 10 points in the loss.

Oneida 53, Vernon-veronasher­rill 54

The visiting Red Devils spoiled Oneida’s Senior night. Oneida lost a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter, and VVS took advantage. Morgan Brewer led the Red Devils charge with 14 points and was aided by Anna Rossi, Sierra Kinne, and Kaitlyn Kinne, who all had double-digit efforts in points. Kaylin Curro led both squads in scoring, dropping 25 points, while Sydney Lusher dropped a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Although Oneida was on the losing effort, the three seniors should be proud of everything they have accomplish­ed on and off the basketball court. Congratula­tions to Syndey Lusher, Maddie Carroll, and Naomie Pawlikowsk­i. Good luck with your future

Cazenovia started their year with a loss to the Rockets.

Thurs. Feb 25 Cazenovia 47, Skaneatele­s 42

After being taken down by Deruyter, Cazenovia rebounded and picked up the win against Skaneatele­s.

Holland Patent 81, Vernon-veronasher­rill 56

Holland Patent was read for whatever VVS threw at them as they defeated them by 25 points in a dominant win. James Wheeler and Jackson Horodnick both dropped 10 points for VVS.

Chittenang­o 56, Hamilton 64

The Emerald Knights kicked off the year on a good note with a 9 point win over the Chittenang­o Bears.

Fri. Feb 26 Hamilton 48, Chittenang­o 52

The Chittenang­o Bears picked up some revenge against the Knights as they topped them this go around in a close, hard-fought game.

Vernon-veronasher­rill 58, Oneida 62

The Oneida boys hang on to beat their rival, VVS. Hunter West of Oneida led his squad with 19 points in the win.
