Oneida-donald W. Casler, age 86, formerly of Stone Street and more recently of the Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehabilita­tion Center peacefully passed away Monday afternoon, August 16, 2021.

He was born on June 10, 1935 in Vernon Center, New York a son of the late Charles and Anna Mae (Bennett) Casler and attended the Vernon Schools.

In his early working career Don who was fondly known as “Feathers” was an outstandin­g cook and was the chef at fine restaurant­s like Marion Manor and Dibble’s Inn for many years. Don retired in 2007 from Menorah Park of CNY where he was a maintenanc­e man for many years. After retirement Don took up the hobby of attending flea markets where he bought and sold many treasures.

He was married to Judy Clark around 1960. They had four children together, Don, Michael, Lisa and Dan. In 1983 he married Sara “Sally” Prillaman originally from New Haven Ct.

Surviving are his wife Sally Casler, his children and spouses, Don Casler, Michael Casler and Nicole (Henderson), Lisa Casler, Dan Casler and Theresa (Carney); his beloved grandchild­ren, Erica and Alexandra Wright, Shawn, Derek (Stephanie) and Tyler Casler, Marissa and Amanda Casler; two great-grandchild­ren, Prestyn and Marleigh and several nieces and nephews.

Don is predecease­d by his parents, all his siblings and daughter- in- Law, Tammy (Korzek).

In keeping with Don’s wishes there will not be calling hours. A graveside service for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 12:00 noon in Vernon Center Cemetery, College Hill Rd. Vernon Center, NY. Online condolence­s may be sent to maleckifun­eralhome.com
