Wednesday, March 23 “Votes for Women!:” At 6:00 p.m., the Oneida Community Mansion House will host a sixpart reading and discussion group on the theme of “Votes for Women!” OCMH Director of Museum Affairs Tom Guiler will lead the group discussion, which will feature reading a text every three weeks with a follow-up discussion. The program is free and open to the public. Spacing is limited so participants are encouraged to sign up in advance. This program is made possible by a grant from Humanities, NY. “Harriet” at MVCC: The movie “Harriet” will be shown as part of the Fact and Film Series at 6 p.m. in Schafer Theater, Wilcox Hall, at MVCC’S Utica Campus. Dr. Todd Marshall, MVCC Chief Equity & Inclusion Officer/cdo, will provide an introduction to the film, which tells the story of heroic abolitionist Harriet Tubman, whose courage, ingenuity, and tenacity freed hundreds of slaves and changed the course of history. The cost to attend is $5for the general public, $2 for MVCC employees, and free for MVCC students. This event is part of a series of events at MVCC in celebration of Women’s History Month this March.

Women of Cazenovia; At 7:00 p.m., Cazenovia Heritage will host a special presentation entitled “Women of Cazenovia and Madison County” by, Madison County Historian Matthew Urtz at the First Presbyterian Church Meeting House in Cazenovia.
Urtz will talk about some of the most prominent women in the history of Madison County and Cazenovia and how they impacted their local communities, NYS, and the United States. There is no charge for this event. For more information please visit www.cazheritage.org or email info@cazheritage.org.
Women in Construction: Empowered Pathways is offering the opportunity for women to learn about job opportunities and the trades on March 30from 12:30- 2:00p.m. at 201Lafayette Street, Utica NY 13502.
This free event, sponsored by W.I.C. (Women in Construction) will feature a panel of women who have enjoyed successful careers in the trades and will include laborers, carpenters, pipefitters/plumbers, and operators. The panel members, all experts in their respective fields, will share their journey to success and offer insight for women considering this occupation. The event is hybrid and can be attended in person or virtually. The event will include lunch for those attending in person, and the panel will address questions from attendees. Budget Meeting: The Canastota Public Library Board of Trustees will hold an informational meeting about the fiscal year 2022-2023 Budget on Thursday, April 21 at 6:30p.m. The budget will remain the same as last year at $334,822. According to library officials, pursuant to New York State Education Law #259, the library has a perpetual levy until the budget amount is changed. The budget hearing will be held in the Carnegie Room located on the 2nd floor of the library and questions will be answered at that time. Copies of the budget are available at the main desk of the library or the business office of the Roberts Street School.
