Utica Dollars for Scholars scholarship deadline March 15
The application deadline for Utica Dollars for Scholars has a deadline of Friday, March 15.
In partnership with the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, Utica Dollars for Scholars is awarding over $170,00 for over 110 scholarships to school districts in Oneida and Herkimer counties. Awards range from $500 to a renewable award of $3,000 for four years from the Mele Family Fund at the Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties for $3,000, renewable for four years, for high school.
Many of the scholarship awards are open to students from across Oneida and Herkimer counties; the Mele scholarship is open to seniors from Adirondack, Camden, Central Valley Academy, Dolgeville, Herkimer, Little Falls, Owen D. Young, Poland, Remsen, Rome, Sauquoit, Utica-proctor, and Waterville.
Mele Manufacturing was a local manufacturer of jewelry boxes since 1912 and still generously supports our community with awards of $12,000 per student over four years.
Utica Dollars for Scholars is grateful to be awarding some new scholarships this year including the Jack and Florence Sitrin Scholarship, awarded to a Proctor senior pursuing a major in Mathematics, the Bernard “Ben” Turi Memorial Scholarship, awarded to an athlete attending T. R. Proctor High School and the Gabriel, Joseph and Lila Mandour Karam Scholarship, awarded to a well rounded senior attending any high school in Oneida or Herkimer County.
Online application includes transcript and reference, goals and aspirations essay, as well as activities, employment and Scholastic Aptitude Test scores. Awards will be announced at a ceremony in June at MVCC.
There are a variety of scholarships for majors of nursing, edu
cation, HVAC, culinary arts, pharmacy, chiropractic, math and sciences. An online application can be completed today at: utica.dollarsforscholars.org.
Utica dollars for scholars was established locally in november 1994. Since its founding, UDFS has distributed nearly $2 million to almost 2,000 students at Tho ma sr. proctor high school, Notredamejunior/seniorhigh School, and many other high schools in oneida and herkimer counties. utica dollars for scholars partners with local businesses, The Community Foundation, families, service organizations, and individual donors.
