Kudos for balanced football coverage

- MARGIE MCMULLEN, PALM BEACH GARDENS ANTHONY C. ROMEO, ATLANTIS

Thanks to The Post Sports staff for comprehensive coverage of Florida college preseason football teams. For several years, my alma mater, Florida State University, was a train wreck and, of course, got negative coverage — and some years, in spite of good results, got little coverage.

But this summer, we are seeing daily articles and reports on all our state teams, presented fairly and equally, featured on the first page with appropriate photos. Keep up the good work. tration.

I have a noticeable disability and a handicapped-parking permit and have witnessed handicapped-parking abuse firsthand. It is far more prevalent than a few cases of appearances not being what they seem, as Cerabino suggests at the end of his column.

It is appalling — the number of healthy people who have access to a handicapped-parking permit yet abuse the privilege for their convenience, even though they are not transporting a disabled person.

Too often, I cannot find a handicapped space when I visit my neighborhood Publix but frequently observe people — who are not transporting a disabled person — parking in a handicapped space and taking advantage of this privilege. These unconscionable scofflaws are dishonest and lazy.

I know the police have more pressing issues that take precedence over enforcing this abuse, so until a remedy can be found, I hope we can rely on the good conscience of our fellow citizens to do the right thing.
