DELRAY BEACH — In a rematch of the teams’ spring game, American Heritage picked up right where it left off against Palm Beach Central, blowing out the Broncos 42-6 Friday night.

“My weapons got it done,” Stallions coach Keith Hindsley said.

Palm Beach Central coach Tino Ierulli said before the game he wanted to see how his young team would react to the adversity of facing a strong American Heritage side after falling 33-0 in May, but his defense buckled early under the pressure.

On the Stallions’ first drive of the game, running back Devin Singletary gashed the Broncos for 26 rushing yards and 20 receiving yards en route to his first touchdown of the night — a 9-yard run to the outside.

“It was exciting. I just want to thank my linemen,” Singletary said.

The running theme held for American Heritage on its next several drives, as sophomore Cameron Smith scored on a 2-yard keeper following his 57-yard pass to Keenan Duggan.

Singletary added a 17-yard score as the first quarter wound down. Five plays later, Cameron Smith’s brother, running back Cornelius Smith, took a handoff from his sibling and scored an 80-yard touchdown.

American Heritage finished the game with five rushing TDs — two by Singletary, one from Alec Sinkfield, and one each from the Smiths.

“That was expected, 100 percent,” Hindsley said. “It didn’t impress me because I’ve been out here and I’ve seen them do it every day.”

The two sides traded defensive blows through the second quarter until senior defensive lineman Greg Begnoche sacked Palm Beach Central quarterback Jordan Tra- vis deep in Broncos territory, forcing a fumble that set up a 10-yard touchdown pass from Cameron Smith to D. J. Davis.

“I hit a spin move on the outside, and then the quarterback saw me coming so he tried to scramble, and I sacked him,” Begnoche said. “It’s very exhilarating.”

Before Begnoche’s forced fumble, linebacker Lawrence Graham set the tone for the defense. The Florida Atlantic commit recorded the first Stallions takeaway of the fall with an interception on the Broncos’ second drive.

“Our defense played phenomenal,” Hindsley said.
