- By Sarah Peters Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

Bump into Dr. Linda Kiley outside of work, when she’s not wearing her white coat or scrubs, and you might not recognize her. The new medical director of women’s surgical services at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center sings and plays keyboard with local bands, including at The Bamboo Room in Lake Worth. The third-degree black belt has traveled to New York, Atlanta and South Korea for tae kwon do competitions. Her real passion, though, is making sure women don’t get shortchanged when it comes to health care.

“Women are not just a uterus and ovaries, and their problems don’t Have a Palm Beach Gardens issue you’d like to see The Post tackle, or a story idea? Contact Sarah Peters at 561820-4715 or speters@pbpost.com.

only stem from their uterus and ovaries ...” Kiley said. “We want to address all aspects of women’s health.”

Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center takes good care of women surgically and post-operatively and excels with its big cardiac program, she said.

But “there’s a huge unmet need for women who are not pregnant in women’s health,” she said.

The leaders of the Tenet Healthcare hospital recognize that, and Kiley began talking with them about her new position when she started coming to the hospital more than a year ago, she said.

Women have cardiovascular, lung and breast problems, too, and Kiley wants to make sure women get those services, in addition to gynecological and diagnostic ones. She’s the first person to hold the title of medical director of women’s surgical services.

Kiley’s main job is working as a urogynecologist at her clinical practice, which has offices in Palm Beach Gardens and Boynton Beach.

Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center CEO Jeffrey Welch touted Kiley’s experience when the hospital named her to the position Aug. 12.

“With Dr. Kiley’s vast experience in gynecologic surgical care, I feel confident that she will thrive in this new position,” Welch said in a news release.

The Palm Beach Gardens resident graduated from UCLA’s Charles Drew Medical Education Program, completed her internship at UCLA’s Olive View Medical Center and did her residency at George Washington University Medical Center, according to the hospital.
