HIDDEN PATCH OF OLD FLORIDA

Project will bring 390 units to RPB’s Acme Road.

Though Acme Road is just off U.S. 441 in Royal Palm Beach, it’s like stepping into a different world.

Behind the Lowe’s are a dirt road, houses with big yards, trees, lush vegetation — and a large construction site.

The Related Group recently purchased the land for $12.5 million and plans to build 390 new units on the property. The project is scheduled to begin in early August, but the seller already has large construction equipment on site, clearing out the land to build a bridge.

Related is planning to finish the project in 2018.

Outside the small oasis, the area has become known for its strip malls and other new housing complexes.

One of the lone undeveloped properties in the area is the Wellington-owned K-Park at the corner of U.S. 441 and Stribling Way. The council is still working on ideas for that land.
