PALM BEACH GARDENS — Top-ranked Dwyer continued its District 13-7A dominance Friday night, shutting down rival Royal Palm Beach 28-0 on Senior Night at Blum Stadium.

Toddy Centeio threw for 190 yards and a touchdown, and the Dwyer defense continued to lead the way for the Panthers (6-0, 3-0), who have outscored their three district opponents by a combined 116-3.

Dwyer has t wo district contests remaining. Royal Palm Beach, last year’s district runner-up to the Panthers, dropped to 1-6, 1-2.

“Defensively, we played really good,” Dwyer coach Jack Daniels said. “Offensively, we started strong, but we fizzled and didn’t get going until late again. We’ve got a lot of work to do.”

Dwyer wasted little time getting its offense going.

Following a Royal Palm Beach punt, the Panthers took over on their 30 and marched 70 yards on six plays, scoring on a 2-yard Jakairi Moses run. The score gave Dwyer a 7-0 lead with 4:24 remaining in the first quarter.

The Panthers went right back to work on their next drive. Starting with a short field, Centeio moved Dwyer inside the Wildcats’ 20.

But the Wildcats’ Curtis Bunche Jr. intercepted Centeio on the goal line, ending the drive with seconds left in the first quarter.

Royal Palm was unable to capitalize on the turnover, or generate much offense against the Panthers.

The Wildcats were held to three first downs and completed just one pass in the first half.

Dwyer got on the board again with three minutes left in the half, taking a 14-0 lead on Centeio’s 4-yard run.

The second half opened with consecutive turnovers. Dwyer fumbled on its opening possession, and Royal Palm followed with an interception after a bad snap on a field-goal attempt.

The Panthers fumbled again late in the third quarter, but found the end zone on their next t wo drives. Centeio hit Tommie Luke for a 38-yard score, and Reggie Gadson followed with a 5-yard TD run.

“We’ve gotten some shutouts, and our guys are playing well,” Daniels said. “We just need to do a better job of being a complete team.” No. 1 Dwyer defeated Royal Palm Beach 28-0 No. 2 Oxbridge Academy lost to IMG Academy 38-0 Thurs.
