TAKING ROUNDABOUT FOR A SPIN

Upgrades complete at dicey Wellington intersection

- — MATT MORGAN

Wellington’s newest roundabout passed its first test last weekend when the Fall Festival took over Village Park.

The village recently completed the road upgrade at Fairlane Farms Road and Stribling Way, designed to fix an awkward intersection that had a harsh left turn for drivers heading into the equestrian preserve.

Stribling Way is the main artery into the preserve for people traveling from east of U. S. 441, including anyone heading to the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center or the International Polo Club.

I t ’s al s o t he best way for those drivers to get to Village Park, and Wellington spokeswoman Liz Nunez said traffic was smooth for the festival. Nunez added that village officials haven’t received any complaints or crash reports from the intersection, which leads them to believe that it’s off to a good start.

Wellington had kicked around ideas for the intersection for years, considering traffic lights before settling on the $550,000 roundabout.
