PBSO: 11-year-old rape victim pregnant
Boynton Beach man facing 20 counts claims ‘weakness.’
An 11-year-old girl is pregn a n t a f t e r a 3 8 -ye a r- o l d Boynton Beach man had a “moment of weakness” which he detailed to Palm Beach County Sheriff ’s deputies Wednesday.
But the girl, who learned Wednesday she was pregnant, told deputies Elvin Benitez-Lopez had dozens of “moments of weakness.”
It started when she was 9. Benitez-Lopez would unlock the bathroom door and touch her while she showered. He most recently raped her the day before Thanksgiving, she told deputies from a room at Bethesda Hospital East.
Benitez-Lopez denied raping the girl more than once, telling police he raped her on Halloween. The girl got out of the shower, he told deputies. He saw her in a towel, commented on how she “looked like a woman,” then had his “moment of weakness.”
The relationship between t h e g i r l a n d t h e ma n i s unclear.
Benitez-Lopez, a citizen of Guatemala, is charged with 20 counts of raping a minor and one count of impregnating a minor, jail records show. He is being held without bond in the Palm Beach County Jail.
