Men charged with robbery for stealing boy’s sneakers

GREENACRES — Two men are being held in the Palm Beach County Jail after they allegedly beat up a 12-yearold boy early Sunday to steal his sneakers, according to an arrest report.

Nicolas Sanchez of Boynt o n B e a c h a n d G o n z a l o Munoz of Lake Worth are facing charges of robbery after they and three juveniles attacked the boy in the Tavares Cove mobile-home community just east of the city limits and stole a pair of $300 sneakers he had in a box and another pair of $200 sneakers he was wearing, the report said.

The boy told Palm Beach County sheriff ’s detectives that he went to a birthday party on the 6100 block of Calle Del Sol — near his home — with the intent of selling Air Jordan Retro 12 sneakers valued at $300 to a friend.

The boy left the party at about 12:45 a.m. with the sneakers in their original box when he was pushed to the ground, the report said. Five people he had seen ear- lier at the party began kicking and punching the boy while he was on the ground.

The sneakers were taken f r o m h i s h a n d s a n d t h e attackers also pulled off a pair of Air Jordan Retro 14 sneakers the boy had on his feet, the report said.

Deputies detained Sanchez, 22, Munoz, 19, a 17-yearold boy and two other juveniles who were not identified. The boy was able to identify the five attackers.

Sanchez was being held late Tuesday in lieu of $7,500 bail. Munoz was released late Monday after posting bond for the same amount.
