Jupiter manager among 28 seeking North Palm position

Village seeking a replacemen­t for Jim Kelly.

JUPITER — Andrew Lukasik, who has been town manager in Jupiter since 2004, is among 28 applicants applying to be village manager in North Palm Beach.

Other applicants include a former North Palm Beach police captain, a former town manager of Loxahatche­e Groves, the president of Florida Business Developmen­t Corporatio­n, the assistant city manager of Key West and a U.S. Navy chief operations manager in Washington, D.C.

Lukasik, 46, declined to comment when contacted by The Palm Beach Post.

I n c l u d e d i n L u k a s i k ’s résumé are letters of recommenda­tion from Tequesta Mayor Abby Brennan, Executive Director of the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council Michael Busha and Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Beth Kigel.

North Palm Beach is seeking applicants to replace Village Manager Jim Kelly.

The village council agreed Oct. 28 to end Kelly’s contract following complaints from village residents and officials that Kelly was difficult to work with.

Kelly countered he had overseen the developmen­t of a master plan, progress at Anchorage Park and helped village residents through Hurricane Matthew.

North Palm Beach is about five square miles and has about 13,000 residents. Jupiter is about 22 square miles and has about 60,000 residents.

North Palm Beach’s annual budget is about $18 million; Jupiter’s is about $80 million.

Kelly’s salary was about $140,000.

The North Palm Beach Village Council plans to meet Monday to narrow down t h e l i s t . I n t e r v i e ws wi l l be conducted in January, said village Mayor David Norris.

“The council members will make their recommenda­tions and we will narrow the list to decide on who to invite for interviews,” Norris said.
