Party guest ousted, fights with officer
Christmas bash ends in jail for man who wouldn’t leave.
RIVIERA BEACH — A Christmas party Saturday ended early when an unruly man tried to fight with guests, Riviera Beach police said.
One of the hosts flagged down an officer bec ause Alexander Castillo refused to leave the home.
An officer found Castillo, 26, screaming in the middle of the road outside a home off North Congress Avenue north of Blue Heron Boulevard. The party guests gathered outside and neighbors stopped by to investigate the commotion, a police report states.
Castillo refused to stop yelling and ignored the officer’s orders, records show.
The officer tried to grab Castillo’s arm, but he aggressively pulled away, spewing profanities as he did, the officer noted.
Other guests told Castillo to comply with the officer. One woman even stepped between Castillo and the officer, begging him to do what the officer said, according to a police report.
But he didn’t. The offi- cer fired pepper spray at Castillo, then helped him to the ground.
Castillo continued to resist arrest, the officer said. A sergeant who arrived on scene fired a Taser at Castillo, and eventually Castillo was handcuffed.
Castillo and the officer were t aken to St . Mary ’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach for injuries sustained during the struggle. Police records show the officer suffered a left shoulder strain and an injury to the right forearm.
Castillo, who lives in suburban Greenac re s, face s c harges of a s s aul t on a n officer, disorderly intoxication, marijuana possession and violently resisting an officer. He was released from the Palm Beach County Jail late Monday after posting a $2,000 bond. A judge ordered that Castillo not possess any weapons or consume alcohol or illegal drugs.
