Oxbridge’s Smith getting major offers

C.J. Smith, one of the top football prospec ts in the Class of 2018, picked up four major offers recently.

The Oxbridge Academy wide receiver and defensive back received offers from North Carolina, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin, Smith told 247Sports.

Smith, who was named to The Post’s Small Schools All-Area second team as a wide receiver, finished last season with a team-leading 20 receptions for 405 yards and seven touchdowns.

However, colleges are primarily recruiting him as a defensive back . Smith i s rated a four-star prospect and the No. 16 safety in the country by 247Sports.

He finished last season with 11 tackles, one intercepti­on and three pass deflection­s.

The s i t e, af t er i ni t i al ly putting him in the top 100 juniors in the country, has him ranked as the 243rd rising senior in the nation — still the top spot of any player in Palm Beach County.

Smith also has offers from Alabama, LSU, Michigan and Tennessee, among others.

Former Wildcat in FCS final: Three years after he suited up for Royal Palm Beach, Jimmy Moreland will get to play for a national championsh­ip.

Moreland, a 2013 firstteam All-Area selection, is a starting defensive back for James Madison, which will play for the Football C h a mpi o n s h i p S u b d i v i - sion national championsh­ip against Youngstown State at noon Saturday in Frisco, Texas.

The Royal Palm alum and JMU redshirt sophomore, who was No. 21 on The Post’s 2014 Big Board, is in his second season as a starter for the Dukes. He has 36 tackles and t wo intercepti­ons this season.

JMU made the national title game by beating North Dakota State in the semifinals. North Dakota State had won the previous five national championsh­ips.
