Man accused of DUI with child in car

A West Palm Beach man is accused of driving drunk with a 3-year-old in the car late New Year’s Day, police records show.

M i g u e l A n g e l R i v e r a Morales, 23, is facing DUI and child neglect charges, records show.

Palm Beach Gardens police saw Rivera Morales driving without his lights on shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday. He was in a black Mazda, offiffi- cers said, going west on PGA Boulevard near Prosperity Farms Road.

P o l i c e p u l l e d b e h i n d Rivera Morales and watched him swerve through lanes, records show. He pulled in front of eastbound traffiffic to make a U-turn, according to police records, and caused oncoming traffiffic to have to brake to avoid hitting him.

O f f i c e r s n o t e d R i v e r a Morales strongly smelled of alcohol.

His speech was slurred, r e p e t i t i v e a n d e x c i t e d , records show.

He made multiple statements about a woman, saying she’d ruined his life and led him to drink to ease the pain, records indicate. He blew a 0.094, which is over the state’s legal limit of .08, records show.

Palm Beach Gardens police records don’t indicate his relationsh­ip with the young child.

Rivera Morales is out of the Palm Beach County Jail on a $3,000 bond, records show.

A judge ordered that he have no contact with the child.

He is not allowed to drive or consume alcohol or any illegal drugs, court records state.
