Victim says he took woman’s beating ‘like a man’
A 2 9 -ye ar- old man told Jupiter police investigators he “took my beating like a man” during an argument with a woman early on New Year’s Day.
Town police arrested Krista Lopez, 26, of Bay Shore, N.Y., on Sunday on one count of domestic simple battery. She was released that day on her own recognizance.
According to police, Lopez and the man had gone out to Uncle Mick’s Bar and Grill, at Indiantown Road and Central Boulevard, to celebrate New Year’s Eve. The man, whose na me was not di s c l o s e d, reportedly told investigators he lost track of Lopez’s whereabouts and left the pub believing she had gone to their res- idence in Jupiter. The arrest report does not specify the pair’s relationship, but Lopez reportedly told investigators she and the man have been living together for four years.
Police said the man came home and realized Lopez was not there. He then went to a neighbor’s house. Lopez reportedly arrived about an hour later and began to argue, hitting the man in the face several times. The man went home again and Lopez followed, hitting and scratching him, police said. The man told police he did not retaliate against the 4-foot-10 Lopez.
Lopez reportedly told investigators she was angry because the man left her at the bar. She alleged that she defended herself after the man hit her.
She did not have any visible injuries, police said.
The man reportedly had numerous scratch marks on his arms, neck and back and what appeared to be a bite mark on his right shoulder.
