PALM BEACH GARDENS — A Palm Beach Gardens senior living community is getting a $35 million investment that includes a new four-story building with 54 apartment homes and a renovated clubhouse for current residents.
The new apartment homes, known as Mallorca, are under construction at La Posada, a Kisco Senior Living community near the Gardens mall, and should be complete early next year. The studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartment homes will be $3,500 to $5,100 a month after an entrance fee, said La Posada Executive Director Brad Cadiere.
Many of the apartment homes will have lake views.
La Posada already includes 193 independent-living apartment homes and 11 villas with a health-care center that includes another 88 units for assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and rehab.
A free-standing, 3,400-squarefoot fitness center with glass walls overlooking the pool is under construction, as is a new bar and lounge area with a larger space for Wii tournaments.
A new dining venue with a display kitchen is also among the additions.
All of that is welcome news for Noel Trachtenberg, who moved to La Posada with her husband from Jensen Beach about seven years ago. Because restaurants are so packed, they stay in for dinner more often, Trachtenberg said.
“It’s certainly going to be a boon to independent living residents to have another eating venue,” she said.
A bigger lounge is another welcome addition for the 50 residents who participate in Wii bowling. It will give them more space for the tournaments they hold two or three times a year, Trachtenberg said.
The lounge and bar are so popular they’re too small, particularly during Friday evening happy hours, La Posada resident Stan Noss said.
